Priceville softball roundup for March 24

Lady Bulldogs get area win

Priceville’s Lady Bulldogs (1-7) broke out of a losing steak with a 15-14 win over area opponent DAR on the road Thursday.

Priceville led 8-3 after three innings but had to preserve a 15-9 advantage in the seventh to take the win.

“This was our best all-around game this season,” said head coach Preston Potter. “Winning is great, but I am more proud of how well we played. We want to get better every time we step on the field and between the last game and this game we did that.”

Abby St. John scattered 10 hits with three strikeouts to claim the win,

McKenzie Parker had a triple and three singles, scored four runs and had two stolen bases. Alex Shields three singles and four RBIs. St. John had an RBI double, three singles, a run and a stolen base.

Sara Beth Wilson collected four hits while Destinee Hargrove added a double and two RBIs. Hannah Wheeler had a triple, two singles, two RBIs and two stolen bases. Kathleen Wheeler had three singles, an RBI and a stolen base.

Westminster Christian 15, Priceville 2

Priceville’s Lady Bulldogs lost to Westminster Christian 15-2 in an area game played at home March 17.

The Lady Bulldogs committed five errors and gave up nine walks in five innings.

McKenzie Parker went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a run, Abby St, John had a sacrifice fly and knocked in a run and Kathleen Wheeler and Destinee Hargrove each had a single.

SOFTBALL: Sparkman 5, Priceville 1

Sparkman’s four-run, third inning was too much for Priceville March 24 in the Gulf Coast Classic.

Kathleen Wheeler, Abby St. John, Sara Beth Wilson, Hannah Walker and Mia Grantland collected Priceville’s five hits.

Abby Hensley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning to score Kenzie Price, which tied the game at 1-1.

St. John, the starting pitcher, ran into trouble in the third inning but quickly regained control in the fourth and fifth inning before time ran out in the game. She finished with five runs on nine hits with no walks and a strikeout.

SOFTBALL: Horseshoe Bend 5, Priceville 0

Three errors doomed the Lady Bulldogs against Horseshoe Bend March 24 in the Gulf Coast Classic.

Reagan Spencer, McKenzie Parker, Abby St. John, Kathleen Wheeler and Sara Beth Wilson collected Priceville’s five hits, which matched the Lady Generals’ total hits.

Kyle Miller took the loss, allowing two earned runs with five walks and four strikeouts.

Softball: Ardmore 5, Priceville 0

McKenzie Parker had the lone hit for the Lady Bulldogs against Ardmore March 23 in the Gulf Coast Classic.

Abby St. John took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with no walks.
