A Hartselle man and woman were arrested on drug charges after Morgan County Drug Task Force agents and Hartselle Police officers conducted a search at an apartment on Mitwede Fri., March 20.

Michael Logan Hickson, 21, was charged with the unlawful possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and unlawful possession of felony drug paraphernalia. Amanda Evangeline Speakes, 31, faces a charge of unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance second degree. Both remain in Morgan County Jail under $5,000 bonds.

Sheriff Ana Franklin reported that drug task force agents and Hartselle Police went to 1000 Mitwede Street Apt. I-8 in Hartselle in reference to drug activity. Agents had received information that multiple people were coming and going from the apartment at all hours of the night.

Agents made contact with Hickson and Speakes in the apartment. They smelled marijuana and could see drug paraphernalia in view. They obtained consent to search the apartment and discovered meth making materials, methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana.
