Falkville High to host county basketball tourney

Falkville High School will host the 2015 Morgan County Basketball Tournament beginning Mon., Jan. 19, and continuing through Sat., Jan. 24.

In the varsity division, West Morgan’s boys and Danville’s girls are No. 1 seeds and won’t see action until Thur., Jan. 22.

The Rebels have a 20-5 record and are ranked No. 5 in the state in Class 3A. The Lady Hawks have a 16-7 record and are ranked seventh in Class 4A.

2015 Morgan County Tournament Brackets

The tournament begins Monday with six games scheduled. Four games are scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Finals will begin Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the runner-up and championship teams in each division.

MVP awards will be presented in varsity boys and girls divisions. All-Tournament varsity players will also be recognized.

Here is the schedule for tournament:

Monday

Freshman boys: No. 2 Danville (6-7) vs. No. 3 Brewer (6-8), 1 p.m.

Freshman boys: No. 1 Hartselle (11-3) vs. No. 4 Priceville (5-8), 2:15 p.m.

JV girls: No. 4 West Morgan (12-6) vs. No. 5 Falkville (6-4), 3:30 p.m.

JV boys: No. 4 seed West Morgan (7-12) vs. No. 5 Hartselle (4-12), 5 p.m.

Varsity girls: No. 4 Falkville (11-10) vs. No. 5 Priceville, 6:30 p.m.

Varsity boys: No. 4 Falkville (9-9) vs. No. 5 seed Danville (7-15), at 8 p.m.

Tuesday

JV girls: No. 3 Hartselle (14-5) vs. No. 6 Brewer (6-9), 4 p.m.

JV boys: No. 3 Falkville (9-7) vs. Danville (N/A), 5:15 p.m.

Varsity Girls: No. 3 West Morgan (13-10) vs. No. 6 Hartselle (6-15), 6:30 p.m.

Varsity Boys: No. 3 Hartselle (11-10) vs. No. 6 Brewer (6-15), 8 p.m.

Thursday

JV Girls: No. 1 Danville (11-3) vs. WMHS-FHS winner, 4 p.m.

JV Boys: No. 1 Priceville (14-5) vs. WMHS-HHS winner, 5:15 p.m.

Varsity Girls: No. 1 Danville (16-7) vs. FHS-PHS, 6:30 p.m.

Varsity Boys: No. 1 West Morgan vs. FHS-DHS winner, 8 p.m.

Friday

JV Girls: No. 2 Priceville (9-3) vs. HHS-BHS winner, 4 p.m.

JV Boys: No. 2 Brewer (13-6) vs. FHS-DHS winner, 5:15 p.m.

Varsity Girls: No. 2 Brewer (10-5) vs. WMHS-HHS winner, 6:30 p.m.

Varsity Boys: No. 2 Priceville (14-7) vs. HHS-BHS winner, 8 p.m.

Saturday

Freshmen Boys final, 2 p.m.
