Enquirer announces All-Area Volleyball Team

Editor’s Note: This is the first part of a two-part series dealing with the fall sports awards. The All-Area Football Team will be released in the Dec. 31, 2014, edition.

The Hartselle Enquirer has released its 2014 All-Area Volleyball Team.

Below are the first and second teams along with honorable mention.

First team

Sydni Shelton, Sr., Danville – Named MVP of Class 4A State Finals. Led Danville with 786 kills, (5.1 kills per set). Also had 60 blocks, 423 digs, 88 aces and 22 assists. Finished with 3,377 kills, 1,612 digs, 402 blocks, 314 aces and 197 assists in her career.

Megan Zuck, So., Hartselle – Led Hartselle in kills with 429. Also had 354 digs, 75 blocks, 62 aces and 8 assists.

Charlee Anderson, Sr., Danville – Named to Class 4A State All-Tournament Team. Finished with 1,391 assists, 360 digs, 102 aces, 84 kills and 34 blocks. She finished with 3,323 assists in her career along with 704 digs, 283 aces, 146 kills and 69 blocks.

Kellee Stiles, Sr. Danville – Had a career best 334 kills along with 108 aces, 381 digs, 23 blocks and 22 assists. Tied Shelton with 18 kills in the state championship match against Jacksonville.

Jordan Barbrey, Sr., Hartselle – racked up 625 assists with 327 digs, 31 aces and 25 kills.

Bailey Powell, Jr. Hartselle – had 310 kills, 358 digs, 49 aces, 40 blocks and 2 assists.

Libero – Hannah Warren, Sr., Hartselle – Led Hartselle with 468 digs with 47 assists and 1 ace.

Second Team

Jada Harris, Jr., Danville – Had 62 blocks, 255 kills, 81 digs, 15 assists and an ace. “She helped us tremendously on offense by learning a ton of different ways to score,” said head coach Spencer Cole. “She did a good job blocking for us and understood strategy such that she ran attacks that would draw blockers and defense even if she didn’t get set.”

Shyanne Stackhouse, Sr., Priceville – led the team with 290 kills and 172 blocks.

Alison Varner, Sr., Priceville – She had 254 kills, 187 digs and 38 blocks before missing the final 12 matches due to an injury. She served 339-for-360 for 94 percent with 30 aces.

Kayla Key, Jr., Hartselle – finished with 250 kills, 131 blocks, 42 digs and 4 assists.

Morgan Stinson, Jr., Brewer – 4.3 kills per set, 2.4 digs per set

Libero – Lexus Brindley, Sr., Brewer – 6.1 digs per set, 5.3 receptions per set and a 95.6 serving percentage

Honorable Mention

Hartselle – Madelyn Cheatham, Katy Beth Bole, Gabrielle Bili

Danville – Alexis Snow, Morgan Weatherwax, Mikayla Koins, Tatianna Roberts

Falkville – Autumn Eddy, Sky Engle

Priceville – Whittney Clark, Averi Dupont, Tori Vehrs
