Brewer High School girls head basketball coach Ricky Allen notched his 600th caching win in a home game against Priceville Dec. 16.

His Lady Patriots handed him the historic win by defeating Priceivlle’s Lady Bulldogs 68-53.

After the game, Brewer Principal Jeremy Childers addressed fans from center court, asking them to recognize Allen for reaching the 600-win mark as a head coach. They responded with a standing ovation.

Deshler coach Jana Killen reached the same milestone a day earlier when her team defeated East Lawrence 66-44.

Both coaches accomplishments were the subject of a news release circulated by the Alabama High School Athletic Association dated Dec. 19.

Allen, a retired teacher, is in his 30th year of coaching at Brewer. His 2012 team won the Class 5A state championship and his next two teams reached the final four. He has had 17 teams win the Morgan County championship.

Allen attended schools in Priceville until his senior year in high school when he transferred to Brewer following the consolidation of five area high schools.

Allen is currently the active leader in girls basketball wins in Morgan County.

Ranked above him are Wayne Bowling (683), Mike Smith (624) and Joe Jones (606).

In Brewer’s win over Priceville, Malerie Drinkard led the team with 17 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and four steals. Brook Childers and Sarah Clark followed with 15 points each and Tamera Chapman added 11 points.

McKenzie Parker paced the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 28 points. Ashlee Quinn had 12 points.
