Priceville approves Veterans Park work
Priceville Town Council approved $7,495 for repair work and upgrades in the Morgan County Veterans Memorial Park at its regular meeting Dec. 8.
The Community Relations Committee was authorized to spend $6,395 to install a 4-foot aluminum security fence around the area where two U.S. Navy ship anchors will be displayed on concrete pads and $1,100 was approved to repair concrete damage in the armed forces memorial section and cover the entire area with a sealer.
“We had some damage done to the concrete surface when a monument fell, and the new concrete won’t match the original surface when it is repaired,” said Councilman Tommy Perry. “We’re hopeful that sealing the entire area will take care of that.”
He added that fencing the naval exhibit will help protect it from being damaged.
In other action, the council:
• Approved $795 to The Verdin Company for 2015 clock maintenance service
• Approved $600 to install a streetlight on Robinson Street and repair a streetlight on Skidmore Street.
• Approved bills totaling $109,923.60 for November.
