Commission contributes $10,000 to SNAP project

The path to completion of the John Mark Stallings Special Needs Accessible Playground (SNAP) was shortened when the Morgan County Commission voted to donate $10,000 to the project at its regular meeting Tuesday morning.

The donation was split equally four ways between districts 1-4 and will be used to complete the third and final phase of the playground, which is located in Sparkman Park in Hartselle.

In addition to the money, the commission has agreed to provide in-kind work, according to Commission Chairman Ray Long.

“We wanted to step up and help the SNAP Committee raise the money needed to complete the playground,” Long said. “This project helps special needs kids throughout the county. We’re glad we can assist it.”
