Priceville restaurant seeks alcohol license
Customers of a new Priceville restaurant will likely be able to order wine, beer or a mixed alcoholic drinks with their meal in the near future.
La Cassita Mexican Restaurant, located at 620 Hwy. 67 S, has applied for a license to sell alcoholic beverages on the premises for consumption. In response, the town council set a public hearing as a first step in consideration of the request at its next meeting, Dec. 8, at 6:15 p.m.
Previously, several Priceville businesses have been licensed to sell beer and wine for off-premises consumption, but La Cassita is the first to request a license to sell it for on-premises consumption.
The license could be approved following the hearing with a suspension of the rules, which requires unanimous consent.
The Council also approved a one-time holiday bonus for its employees.
A motion by Finance Committee chairman Charles Black to give a $500 bonus to full-time employees and a $250 bonus for part-time employees was approved unanimously.
“Our employees are deserving,” stated Mayor Melvin Duran. “They do a good job, and we have the money to do this.”
The bonus will be effective with the first pay period in December.
