Hartselle man arrested for drug trafficking

One man faces multiple drug charges after he was arrested in relation to a drug investigation conducted by the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit.

The investigation was in reference to illegal drug sales by Dequinn Montra Bibb, 22, of 504 Bethel St. in Hartselle. During the investigation, Bibb was noted to have sold marijuana on two separate occasions. Inv. Shawn Hudson obtained two felony warrants for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance.

Decatur’s Anti-Crime Unit was patrolling the area of 19th Ave SE in Decatur Mon., Nov. 24 when Officer Michael Kitchens observed Bibb standing in the parking lot of the Busy Bee Market at 1010 19th Ave. SE. Officers made contact with Bibb and placed him under arrest for the warrants.

During the course of the investigation, Bibb was found to be in possession of a firearm, a quantity of marijuana and a quantity of prescription medication without a valid prescription. Bibb was transported to the Decatur Police Department where he was processed.

Bibb was charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana second degree, carrying a pistol without a permit and loitering.

Bibb will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $14,000 bond.
