Ronald Lewis Sparkman

Funeral for Ronald Lewis Sparkman, 70, of Hartselle will be Mon., Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. at Moss Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Charlie Brown and Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Sparkman died Fri., Nov. 21, 2014, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 29, 1944, in Morgan County to Clarence Washington Sparkman and Lilly Lou Mary Francis Veda Legg Sparkman. He was a member of Moss Chapel United Methodist Church, was a health care executive for 35 years and was recognized nationally for his rural health care authority. He was a civic leader and was well respected in his community.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Moss Sparkman; two sons, David Sparkman (Raquel) of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Dale Sparkman of Somerville; two daughters, Patti Sparkman and Catheryn Sparkman, both of Huntsville; a stepson, Danny Simmons of Florida; a stepdaughter, Lisa Bates (Ken) of Athens; two brothers, Coleman Sparkman of Smithville, Tenn., and Orval Sparkman of Decatur; three grandchildren; Dylan Sparkman, Daniel Sparkman and Justin Sparkman; and a stepgranddaughter; Britney Carter (Halston).

Pallbearers will be Randy Sparkman, Alan Sparkman, Dylan Sparkman, Daniel Sparkman, Justin Sparkman and Ken Bates.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Moss Chapel United Methodist Church, Hospice of the Valley or Summerford Nursing Home.
