Jerome Leshon Murphy, 30, of 29 Maddox Rd. Danville, was arrested earlier this month for possession of a controlled substance with further charges pending.

The Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit has been conducting a narcotics investigation during the past couple of months. Investigator Summers obtained a warrant for an additional possession of a controlled substance charge Nov. 13 for Murphy.

Investigator Hudson located Murphy inside a vehicle on Southwest Avenues in Decatur Nov. 13. Members of the Anti Crime Unit conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. After placing Murphy under arrest for the felony warrant, officers located a quantity of crack cocaine and methamphetamine on Murphy’s person.

Murphy was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Murphy will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail. His bonds have not been set at his time.

Murphy is currently out after posting bail for other prior felony charges and is on parole. An attempt will be made to have those bonds revoked and his state parole officer will be notified.
