Three more advance to North Super Regionals

Falkville qualifies for Super Regional

 

Falkville’s Lady Blue Devils advanced to the Super Regional Volleyball Tournament as runner-up to Addison in the Class 2A, Area 14 Tournament Monday.

The Lady Blue Devils defeated Cold Springs 13-25, 17-25, 25-17, 25-18, 15-5 before falling to Addison in the championship match.

Leading scorers for Falkville were Makenzie Smith with 17 kills, 16 digs and two aces; Emily Gray with 13 digs and three aces; Sky Engle with eight digs; Autumn Eddy with 21 kills, 19 digs and two aces; Kaitlyn Boyer with 63 assists and two aces and Britni Bell with 14 kills and three blocks.

 

Priceville wins area title on the road

 

The Priceville Lady Bulldogs won the Class 4A, Area 13 championship by defeating Westminster Christian 3-1 (25-21, 30-28, 18-25, 25-21) in a highly competitive match.

Tournament MVP Alison Varner led the way with 21 kills while Shyanne Stackhouse added 9 kills and 9 blocks. Kristen Skinner collected 8 kills and 4 blocks. Other stat leaders included Tori Vehrs with 14 assists, Amanda Rotermund with 17 assists and Whittney Clark with 4 digs.

Priceville defeated DAR 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21) in a semifinal match. Varner had 15 kills to pace the Lady Bulldogs (27-20) while Shyanne Stackhouse added 10 kills and 3 blocks.

Kristen Skinner earned 10 kills followed by Amanda Rotermund with 10 assists, Tori Vehrs with 8 assists and Brianna Duplantis with 3 aces after finishing 15-for-15 on her serves.

Clark and Stackhouse were also named to the all-tournament team.

 

Brewer runner-up in area tournament

 

Brewer’s Lady Patriots are headed to the Super North Regional Volleyball Tournament after finishing as runner-up at the Class 6A, Area 14 Tournament at Arab High School Thursday.

They will see regional action Friday.

The Lady Patriots defeated Lee 25-16, 25-21, 25-14 before losing to host Arab 25-6, 25-13, 28-26 in the area championship match.

Against Lee, Caity Jett had nine kills, Morgan Stinson had eight kills, Hannah Collins had six aces and Brook Childers had 14 assists.

Stinson paced Brewer in the championship match with nine kills. Jett had six kills and Childers had 10 assists.

Lexus Brindley, Childers and Stinson were named to the All-Area Team.
