BYW at FBC holds meeting

Falkville Blue Devils will play their last game at home Fri., Oct. 31, against Danville. Seniors playing their last game with the team include Patrick Knowles, Tylor Roy, Jordan Smith and Colin Eason.

Michell Ferrell was hostess for the monthly meeting of the BYW of First Baptist Church Falkville. During the business session, the group discussed plans for the upcoming holidays.

Macbee Halbrooks presented the program on mission work. The group enjoyed a supper that consisted of chicken and dressing, dinner rolls, broccoli salad and dessert.

Among those attending were Darlene McCormick, Crystal Williams, Jillian Smith, Sarah Laughmiller, Amber Kugler, Mary Travens and Jamie Birath. Mrs. McCormick gave the closing prayer. During the social hour, Mrs. Kugler was given a baby shower.

Belated birthday wishes are sent to Patty Pike from Falkville Senior Citizens Center. Her special day was Sat., Oct. 18.

Members of First Baptist Church Falkville extend birthday wishes to Kaye Rowe on Oct. 21, Jana Kirkpatrick on Oct. 24, Chris Blevins on Oct. 26, Julia James on Oct. 27, Kelli Kniegen and Garrett James, both on Oct. 28, Sylvia Halbrooks on Oct. 29, Melissa Rowe and Hadyn Blevins, both onn Oct. 30 and Hal Lee and Jimmy Davis, both on Oct. 31.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. First Baptist Church Falkville honored their pastor, Bro. Greg Burchman, with a churchwide meal after the worship service Sunday morning, Oct. 19.

Congratulations to the Falkville Blue Devils for winning their homecoming game against Southeastern Fri., Oct. 17, by a score of 33-13.

Callie Garner, daughter of Bruce and Tena Garner, was crowned 2014 homecoming queen at halftime by the 1964 homecoming queen, Carolyn Hill Bowers. Carolyn’s parents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hill. She is the sister of Ruthie Nell Hill Lawrence.
