Jamie Weatherwax has found his niche in the prepared food industry after spending most of his life in the grocery business.

A Moulton native, Weatherwax started his new career last month when he opened Roasted on Nanceford Road, near Sparkman Civic Center.

“My family owned and operated three Piggly Wiggly stores in Lawrence and Morgan Counties for a long time,” Weatherwax said. “When the last one closed three years ago, I turned my attention to finding the right location for a different kind of food establishment.

“I learned this building was available in July and had everything in place that I needed,” he said. “I was really blessed with the way its owners, Eric and Brenda Stout, worked with me and helped me get started.”

“Our food is different from what you’ll find at most other restaurants or fast food outlets,” Weatherwax stated. “I’ve always believed anything that can be cooked over an open fire can be roasted in the oven. Therefore, we offer roasted boneless pork loin, top round beef, ham and chicken. It’s tender and finger-licking good.”

Meat entrees are served in sandwiches and on plates complete with original sauces, pickled red onions, and home-cooked sides.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Drive-thru service is available.

Homemade soups will be added to the menu during fall and winter months.

“We offer catering service and welcome the opportunity to assist churches, schools and other community groups with their fundraisers,” Weatherwax said. “We also welcome customers to call ahead and place their orders for complete take-out dinners for their evening meal.”

Weatherwax said he plans to utilize a large paved parking lot to host bike and classic car nights and offer entertainment for customers.
