Dr. Herman Emery “Bounce” Stringer

Funeral for Dr. Herman Emery “Bounce” Stringer, 77, of Hartselle will be Wed., Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at Cullman Heritage Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Todd officiating.

Burial will be in Cullman Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Dr. Stringer died Mon., Sept. 15, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Eva to the late Herman Ollie and Esther Kelley Stringer. He was retired from General Motors and served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Melba Gaddy, Thelma Walker and Daphne Haynes.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Dawson Stringer; two sons, Paul Stringer (Pam) and Scott Stringer (Leslie); a daughter, Suellen Guthrie (Tim); seven grandchildren, Justin, Alex, Magan, Seth, Katie, Zachary, and Brant; five great-grandchildren, Asher, Gaines, Jacob, Katelyn and Haleigh; a brother, I.C. “Shorty” Stringer (Elsie); two sisters, Marie Cummings and Freda Bean; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, American Cancer Society or St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
