Black, Tanksley wed

Sara Glenn Black and James Hampton Tanksley were married June 7, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at The Cedars in Tanner with the Rev. Jack Redfearn officiating.

A reception followed.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Black of Athens. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sanders and Mrs. Glenn Black and the late Mr. Glenn Black, all of Athens.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Hampton Tanksley of Hartselle.

He is the grandson of Mrs. James E. Hampton and the late Mr. James E. Hampton of Hartselle and Mrs. Harlen J. Tanksley and the late Harlen J. Tanksley of Decatur.

Matron of honor was Jessica Black Magnusson, sister of the bride of Athens. Bridesmaids were Carrie Anne Coxwell of Tuscaloosa, Jessie Elizabeth Gordon of Greer, S.C., Joanna Huggins of Athens, Meghan Tanksley Knight of Orange Beach, Elizabeth Hendrix Lusk of Hartselle and Sallie Rae Van Kirk of Birmingham.

Best man was Mr. Gregory Tanksley, father of the groom of Hartselle. Groomsmen were Ben Atchison, Wes Orr, Chase Lusk and Logan Whitlow, all of Hartselle, Rob Burns of Tuscaloosa, Kyle Knight of Orange Beach and Matt Magnusson of Athens.

Music for the ceremony was provided by pianist Deanna Anderson. Amanda Hampton of Hartselle kept the bride’s book.

After a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple is residing in Athens.
