F. E. Burleson Elementary School has a new walkway and fencing for raised flowerbeds behind the building thanks to Jacob Briscoe’s Eagle Scout project.

Briscoe, a member of Hartselle Boy Scout Troop 336, completed the project last week as a requirement for attaining the Eagle badge, Boy Scouts highest honor. He also passed the Eagle Board of review and will be honored at an Eagle ceremony later.

The walkway extends from the fourth grade wing to a patio area and leads to the lunchroom. The white picket fence surrounds three raised flower beds,  which were constructed earlier as an Eagle Scout project. It separates the flower beds from a playground area.

ILPEA Industries supported the project with a monetary donation and Corum’s Building and Farm Supply and Jones Fence Co. donated materials.

During the eight years Briscoe has been a member of Troop 336, he has progressed through the ranks and served as a senior patrol leader and librarian.

He was salutatorian of the Hartselle High School Class of 2014 and president and first chair trombonist with the marching band. He plans to enroll at UA later this month with plans to walk on as a member of the Million Dollar Band and pursue a degree in engineering.

Her is the son of Gary and Linda Briscoe of Hartselle.
