The Decatur Police Department has recovered several stolen tailgates and returned them to their rightful owners.

The Decatur Police Property Crimes Investigators followed up on a lead July 11 and met with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office at a scrap yard in Lawrence County after several tailgates were reported stolen July 3 and 4. Several stolen tailgates were recovered from the business at that time.

There are still more tailgates that have not been linked to a police report. Sargent Jeff Clem requests that anyone in the surrounding area that has had a tailgate stolen within the last month call him at 256-341-4639 to see if their tailgate has been recovered. The investigation is still ongoing.
