Dorsey R. Blankenship

Funeral for Dorsey R. Blankenship, 77, of Hixson, Tenn. will be Fri., June 6, at 2 p.m. at North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, in Hixson, Tenn. with Minister William Greer officiating.

Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Fri., June 6, at the North Chapel.

Mr. Blankenship died Wed., June 4, 2014. He was born in Hartselle and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He served our country in the United States Navy and was a frogman diver. He retired from Combustion Engineering with 30 years of service. Mr. Blankenship was an active member of Soddy Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jaxon Pike; and parents, Otis and Novel Blankenship.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pat Blankenship; children, Sandy Swindall and Joe McRee (Hazel); grandchildren, Jeremy McRee (Tracey), Amber Swindall, Ashley Pike and Adam Swindall; great-grandchildren, Payton Pike and Gaebriel Swindall; brothers, Leo Blankenship (Dot) and Glen Blankenship (Janice); sisters, Vivian Bracken and Evelyn Shaneyfelt (Harold); and many nieces and nephews.
