Blue Devils clinch area championship

Eight Falkville hitters had at least two hits each, as the Lady Blue Devils cruised to a 13-3 win over Addison in the Class 1A, Area 15 championship game at Wilson-Morgan Park Thursday.

Emily Gray went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs. Cheyenne Wilson was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs. Lyndsey Moore was also 3-for-4 with two runs.

Other players with two hits each included Callie Garner, Bailey Anders, Makenzie Smith, Alexis Casteel and Emoni Smith.

Anders and Paige Garner added two RBIs each while Casteel had one RBI.

Casteel allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while Callie Garner pitched three scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk. Casteel and Garner recorded strikeouts.

Falkville outscored the Lady Bulldogs 3-2 and 2-1 in the third and fourth innigs. The Lady Blue Devils then pulled away, scoring five in the fifth and three more in the sixth to end the game in the sixth inning.

Falkville 3, Addison 1 (9)

Lyndsey Moore belted a three-run homer in the ninth inning to give Falkville’s Lady Blue Devils a 3-1 win against Addison in the opening round of Class 1A area softball competition at Wilson Morgan Park in Decatur Thursday morning.

Falkville’s Alexis Casteel contributed to the win by going the distance on the mound She allowed only one run on six hits while striking out seven batters and walking four in nine innings.

Cheyenne Wilson had three of Falkville’s 15 hits, Bailey Anders had a double and single and cored a run, Makenzie Smith had a pair of singles and scored a run, Callie Garner, Emily Gray and Casteel each had two singles and Paige Garner had a single.

Falkville 13, Decatur Heritage 1

Falkville crushed Decatur Heritage, 13-1, on the strength of a 19-hit attack and six-hit pitching,

Moore continued her hot hitting with a double, three singles, a RBI and scored three runs. Casteel contributed four singles, three RBIs and scored a run, M. Smith doubled and singled and. scored three runs, Cheyenne Wilson had a pair of singles, three RBIs and scored a run, Anders had two singles, a RBI and scored twice, Emoni Smith had two singles and a RBI, Garner had a pair of singles and scored a run, Emily Gray had a RBI single, Garner had a RBI ad Sky Engle scored a run.

Garner was the winning pitcher. She allowed one run on six his while striking out four batters and walking two.
