John Jacobs, an assistant football coach at

Lawrence County High School in Tennessee, is the

choice for the head football coaching position at

Danville High School.

Principal Pat Smith said he is prepared to recommend

Jacobs for the vacancy at the April meeting of

the Morgan County School Board providing he

passes the praxis to teach in Alabama. He is scheduled

to take that test on Friday.

“I interviewed seven applicants for the job,” Smith

said. “Jacobs emerged as my choice. I think he is

the right man for the job.”

“We had hoped he would be able to come on

board after spring break but that didn’t work out,”

Smith stated. “Now we’re looking forward to having

him here to coach the team during spring training

after baseball season.”

Jacobs is a graduate of the University of North

Alabama where he earned a B.S. degree in education

with a major in mathematics. He played football

at UNA and served as team captain in his senior

season. He played football and served as team

captain in his senior season.

Jacobs was head coach at Loretta, Tenn. for nine

years before joining the football coaching staff at

Lawrence County as an assistant.
