Brewer’s freshman team jumped out front early and went on to carve out a 63-44 win over Priceville in the junior varsity championship game at the Morgan County Basketball Tournament on Saturday.

The patriots were ahead 18-16 after the first quarter, 34-24 at halftime and 46-34 after three periods.

The win was the 12th of the season against only three loses.

“We came out ready to play,” said John Graves.

“Overall, I was pleased with the way we played,” said head coach Mel Northway. “They showed a lot of intensity and did a pretty good job on offense.”

Haden Holmes knocked down 17 points for Brewer to lead all scorers. Brandon Lee followed with 16 points and Dakota Bennett had 13.

Aubrey Richardson scored 13 points for Priceville.
