Hartselle eliminated, Brewer advances

Danville and Brewer advanced in the varsity boys and girls games Monday night in the Morgan County Tournament.

The Hawks defeated Hartselle 63-54 in the varsity boys game.

After Hartselle led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, Danville went on a 9-0 run to take a 24-18 halftime lead.

Hartselle fought back and took the lead, thanks to a 18-6 run through the first half of the third quarter. Danville scored seven of the next 10 points to lead 41-38 at the end of the stanza.

Danville extended the lead to 13 points before holding off a big Hartselle rally.

Patrick Doherty led Danville with 21 points while Andres Cordova, Alan Cordova and Kyle Alexander scored 10 each. Isaiah Moore finished with six followed by Slater Robinson with four and Brandon McCormick with two.

Casen Wallace led Hartselle with 14 followed by Brady Wallace with 12, Tobias Mitchell with 11, Jaylan Jackson and Dolan Golden with six each, Jamal Jackson with three and Luke Southerland with two.

Brewer obliterated West Morgan 82-32 to advance to the varsity girls semifinals against Priceville.

Riley Northway led the way with 23 points followed by Savana Flack with 11, Presley Craft with 10, Tamera Chatman with eight, Bre Flack with six and Emily Oden, Malerie Drinkard, Shelbi Bowen and Cheyenne McLemore with four each.
