Northway sets new scoring record in win

Riley Northway scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead Brewer to a 52-23 win over Columbia Friday night and set a new school scoring record.

Her 12th point of the night gave her the record, which is more than 2,200 points and counting. She has also amassed nearly 1,200 rebounds as well.

Savana Flack also added 10 points and four rebounds followed by Tamena Chatman with six points, Emily Oden and Malerie Drinkard with five points each, Shelbi Bowen and Presley Craft with four points each and Cheyenne McLemore with two points.

Brewer (18-6) earned the right to host the area tournament after finishing 5-1 in area play.

Brewer 65, Danville 49

Brewer scored 23 and 21 in the second and fourth quarters to break open a close game against county rival Danville Thursday night.

Northway finished with 24 points and 16 rebounds to lead the way. Oden also had 11 points followed by Chatman with nine points, Flack with seven points, 12 rebounds and four assists, McLemore with seven points, four assists and four steals, Brooke Childers and Drinkard with three points each and Bre Flack with one point.

Brewer 73, Arab 43

Brewer outscored Arab 25-5 in the fourth quarter to turn a close game into a rout.

Northway led the way with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Oden and Childers also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 respectively. Childers also had seven assists.

Chatman added nine points followed by Drinkard with eight, Savana Flack with four and McLemore with a free throw.

Brewer finished the game with 22 assists and five blocks.
