Dan Dobbs

Funeral for Dan Dobbs, 86, of Hartselle, was Mon., Dec. 23, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Herring Cemetery in Massey.

Mr. Dobbs died Sat., Dec. 21, 2013, at the Country Cottage in Hartselle. He was born Nov. 10, 1927, to Mitchell David Dobbs Sr., and Mattie B. Garner Dobbs. He was a retired mail carrier for over 30 years and had 40 plus years of service with the Alabama National Guard as Lt. Colonel and was a member of the McKendree Methodist Church in Massey. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and farming cattle. He also loved watching Alabama football or the Atlanta Braves play on TV. Mr. Dobbs was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, David Dobbs and Rob Dobbs.

He is survived by three sons, Tom Dobbs and wife Pat, Jeff Dobbs, Steve Dobbs and wife Pam; a daughter, Dana Holmes and husband Glynn; a brother, Bill Dobbs, all of Hartselle; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Mike Dobbs, Matt Holmes, Mitch Dobbs, Daniel Dobbs, Jeffery Dobbs and Preston Dobbs.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be mad to Hospice of the valley.
