After falling behind 21-0, the Falkville Blue Devils rallied to score the next 42 points to defeat county rival Danville 42-28 Friday night at Smith-Owens Stadium.

Danville (0-10) appeared well on its way to an upset of the Blue Devils in the early going.

Slater Robinson had a two-yard touchdown run to put Danville up 6-0 with 4:08 to play in the first quarter.

Colton McCay added to the advantage with a 62-yard. Noah Hogan’s extra point gave the Hawks a 13-0 lead run at the 8:55 mark of the second quarter.

On an FHS third-and-12, Danville’s Dallas McAbee intercepted a Blue Devil pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. A two point-conversion made Danville’s lead 21-0.

However, Falkville came back and tied the game over the next eight minutes. Ryan Sullivan found Logan Vinson on a five-yard touchdown pass at the 4:40 mark of the second quarter.

Sullivan tossed his second touchdown pass two minutes later, this time a 32-yard pass to Austin Kritner.

After Falkville recovered a Danville fumble, Sullivan found the end zone on a one-yard keeper with 21 seconds left in the second quarter. Sullivan’s third extra point tied the game at halftime.

Falkville took a 28-21 lead at the 8:48 mark of the third quarter on a 31-yard pass play from Sullivan to Vinson.

After Falkville turned the ball over on downs at Danville 15-yard line, FHS’s Lucas Johnson recovered a bad Danville snap in the end zone at the 1:36 mark of the third.

Sullivan capped the 42-0 run with a 47-yard keeper for a touchdown.

Danville tried to rally, as Brit Bowling found the end zone on a four-yard carry.

The Hawks forced a Falkville punt and tried to cut the lead to seven points. Falkville’s Aaron Estes picked off a Hawk pass with less than a minute left in the game, ending the Danville threat.

Falkville will host Shoals Christian for the first round of the playoffs in Burl Vest Stadium Friday at 7 p.m.
