Missing teenager found

Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said the missing teen from last night’s search has been located and is safe.

Authorities were looking for 13-year-old Kaitlyn Dempsy. She was reported missing near the Oden Ridge community Sunday.

Franklin announced that the teen was found safe in an email shortly after 4 p.m. Monday.

According to a press release, several search dogs teams searched the area near the disappearance.

“We have had some details that lead us to believe that this teen has ran away from home, and may be staying with a relative,” the press release stated.

Franklin said that she would like to thank all the agencies that participated in the search effort, including the Morgan County Rescue Squad, Oden Ridge Fire Department and the Hemsi Search Dog Unit. A special thanks to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal investigation division and Special Victims Unit.
