Lady Hawks win Class 3A, Area 13

Danville’s Lady Hawks (41-17) claimed the Class 3A, Area 13 volleyball championship in playoff competition at home Monday night.

They defeated Vinemont 25-13, 25-7, 25-20 in the opening round and finished the tournament with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-8 decision over Good Hope in the final match.

The wins advanced the Lady Hawks to the Super Regional at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville for an 11:30 a.m. match on Fri., Oct. 25.

Against Vinemont, Scarlett Shipley had eight kills, six aces and a block, Morgan Weatherwax scored five kills and nine digs, Breann Tuck had 20 assists, Scarlett Shipley collected eight digs, six aces and a block, Lara Grace Legg had six aces and a block, Andrea Carter had a block and Reagan Burcham had five aces.

In the win over Good Hope, Sydni Shelton scored 23 kills, three blocks and three aces, Kheala Roberts had 16 blocks and 15 digs, Charlee Anderson collected 38 assists and three blocks, and Sloan Lindsey and Kellee Stiles each had 10 digs.
