Firefighter killed in fire truck crash

A local firefighter has died after a fire truck crashed on the way to a call earlier today.

According to Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn, Jantzen Frazier, 28, an Oden Ridge volunteer firefighter, was killed. Chunn said Frazier was  reports said he was responding to a fire on Wilson Mountain Road near his home when the fire truck overturned at 2:38 p.m.

No additional details details were immediately available. Alabama State Troopers are investigating the crash.

Chunn said Frazier’s body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.

According to a 2004 Hartselle Enquirer story, Jantzen served with the U.S. Army 127th Aviation Support Battalion in Baghdad, Iraq. He is the son of Murrell and Debbie Frazier of Hartselle.

He retired as an Army sergeant, who served as an Army Ranger and Long Range Sniper. He was recognized in 2012 by Boy Scout Troop 77.
