Lady Tigers runner-up in Gulf Shores tourney

Hartselle’s Lady Tigers (47-21) put together a string of six wins before falling to McGill-Toolen, 25-17,25-15, in the championship match.

The defeated Murphy 21-25, 25-13, 15-7 in the first tournament bracket and got by Robertsdale 25-15, 23-25, 15-8, in the semifinals.

In pool play, they defeated Daphne, 25-12, 25-18; James Clemons, 25-17, 25-15; Baker 25-13, 25-21; and Mary G. Montgomery, 25-12, 25-14.

Taylor Lybarger led Hartselle in overall scoring with 54 kills, 46 digs, seven blocks and 11 aces. Haley Jared contributed 42 kills, 60 digs, 12 blocks, four aces and four assists, Megan Zuck  had 41 kills, eight digs, five blocks and nine aces, Melissa-Paul Hill scored 147 assists, 38 digs, nine kills, four blocks and five aces, Sarah Ellen Battles collected 81 digs, a kill, five assists and five aces, Bailey Powell had five l kills, a dig and a block, Jordan Barbrey scored 27 digs, four aces and five assists, Madelyn Cheatham had nine kills, an assist, two blocks and a dig, Katy Beth Bole scored seven kills, an assist, a block and a dig., Catherine Bodley had four digs; Hannah Warren collected three digs and Mary Claire Swann had a dig and a kill.
