New parking lot construction underway

Heavy equipment operators from District 2, Morgan County Commission provide in-kind services for the construction of a new off-street parking lot in downtown Hartselle. The City of Hartselle is getting a new paved and lighted, off-street parking lot on West Main Street in the Central Business District.

Site work is being contributed by Morgan County Commission, District 2.

Heavy equipment operators began removing moving dirt from the site Tuesday and will remain on the job until the base is completed, according to District 2 Commissioner Randy Vest. Subsequently, Subsequently, the project will be contracted for paving and striping. Lighting will complete the work.

Vest said his district would also share an estimated cost of $86,000 for paving and striping.

“We are pleased to partner with the city to provide a much-needed additional parking lot in the downtown area.” Vest said.
