Melvin E. Black

Funeral services for Melvin E. Black, 88, of Hartselle will be Thursday (today), Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hartselle with the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Black died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Decatur General Hospital. A native of Morgan County, he was owner and operator of Melvin Black Home Builders. A member of First Baptist Church in Hartselle, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and was over the Maintenance Committee for many years. He was a retired building contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Nell Black of Hartselle; one son, Charles M. Black of Hartselle; three daughters, Patricia Moore of Hartselle, Janice Moon of Huntsville and Janet Owens of Priceville; one brother, Marvin T. Black of Hartselle; one sister, Christine Grove of Hartselle; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Howell, Harvey Pride, Jimmy Moore, David Grove, Greg Lane and Pete Moon.
