Lady Hawks improve to 7-3

Danville swept John Paul II Catholic tonight Thursday 25-16, 25-20, 25-23 to improve to 7-3.

Kheala Roberts led the team with 13 kills, three blocks and two aces. Sydni Shelton added nine kills and five assists.

Breann Tuck collected 14 assists and two aces. Sloan Lindsey had three aces and six digs.

Jada Harris had five kills while Scarlett Shipley had a pair of blocks.

Kellee Stiles added eight digs and two aces.

Hawks add two wins at Haleyville

Danville’s Lady Hawks punched out two wins in a volleyball tri-match at Haleyville High School on Sept. 3.

They defeated Carbon Hill 25-22 and 25-16 and got by Haleyville 25-18 and 25-17.

Statistical leaders for the Lady Hawks were: Sydni Shelton and Kheala Roberts with 24 and 23 kills, respectively; Breann Tuck and Shelton with 27 and 15 assists, respectively; Roberts. five blocks; Sloan Lindsey, Roberts and Shelton with 15, 12 and 10 digs, respectively; and Kellee Stiles, Roberts and Andrea Carter with 10, five and four aces, respectively.

Hawks falls in semifinals of Pepsi Classic

Danville went 3-2 in the Brewer Pepsi Classic Aug. 31.

The Hawks finished second in pool play. Danville defeated Priceville 25-22, 25-19 and Cullman 25-13, 25-21. Madison Academy defeated Danville 25-15, 25-19.

In bracket play, Danville defeated East Limestone 25-21, 25-16 and Brewer defeated Danville 25-12, 25-17.

Sydni Shelton led the team with 36 kills, 25 assists, five blocks, 26 digs and six aces. Kheala Roberts added 33 kills, six blocks and 12 aces. Andrea Carter also had 16 kills and four blocks.

Breann Tuck had 42 assists and six aces while Sloan Lindsey had 15 digs and Kellee Stiles finished with 14 digs.
