Old post office going, going, gone
The old Hartselle Post Office will be sold to the highest bidder during an auction Sept. 7.
Hartselle Utilities, which owns the building, has contracted Four Oaks United Country Realty to conduct the auction.
HU general manager Bob Sittason said they haven’t used the building, which was built in the 1930s, in more than 10 years.
“Hartselle Utilities used the building from 1984 until we opened our currently facility in 2002,” Sittason said. “We’ve tried selling it before, but this is the first time we’ve put it up for auction.”
Sittason said the 7,000-square-foot building still has the original marble floors and has a basement area. He said the property will be sold in three different parcels.
