A group from Fairview: The Grace Place traveled to Shawnee, Okla., June 29 through July 1 to help with tornado relief work.

They helped a family tear down their irreparable house, so they could rebuild in the same location. The group also helped other homeowners put tarps over leaking roofs.

While in Oklahoma for the weekend, they visited the site of Plaza Towers Elementary, the destroyed school in Moore where seven children were killed. They also visited the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial.

Fairview’s youth pastor Greg Hill, who is originally from Oklahoma City, led the group.

“I was born and raised in Oklahoma City,” Hill said. “My wife and I lived near the community that was hit about a year after we married. The destroyed communities were only 10 to 15 minutes outside of Oklahoma City.”
