Make frozen ice cubes from ice tea instead of using regular water. As it melts, it will not weaken the tea. This same method can be used in making ice to go into fruit juices.

Potato Salad
3 large potatoes
2 T white vinegar
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. celery salt
1/4 cup sliced green onion
1/4 cup chopped pickles
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup milk

In a sauce pan, cover potatoes with water and boil until tender. Drain, peel and cube. Combine vinegar, sugar and celery seeds.
Cover and chill. Just before serving, fold in pickle and onion. Combine mayonnaise and milk. Pour over salad and toss gently. Makes eight servings.

Pumpkin Pie
1 package instant vanilla pudding
1/2 cup milk
1 cup canned pumpkin
3/4 T pumpkin pie spice

Combine all ingredients into a large bowl. Beat until well blended. Pour into a graham cracker pie shell. Chill for about two hours.

Chocolate Crunch
1 large chocolate bar
Corn flakes

Melt chocolate bar over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent scorching. Slowly add corn flakes until mixture is stiff. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let cool.

Frozen Bananas
4 bananas
2 small chocolate candy bars
1 cup chopped nuts

Melt chocolate bars over low heat, stirring constantly. Peel bananas and roll into melted chocolate. Roll in chopped nuts. Wrap in plastic wrap and put in freezer until frozen. These bananas make a good treat.

Apple Pie
1 quart sliced, peeled apples
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 T flour
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
pie shell
Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg until well blended. Stir in the apples. Pour the mixture into pie shell and dot with 1 T of butter or margarine. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

The annual Falkville Festival will be held Oct. 30. Events for the day will be a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Fire Station and a backyard barbecue cook-off at 7 a.m.  To register for this event contact Chief Free at 784-5922. Contestants will cook fish, game and fowl. They will be given a cash prize. Actsivities for kids will include arts and crafts, food, bingo, cake auction and live entertainment.
