The Hartselle High School softball team conducted their annual softball camp Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6.

The camp was held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Fifty-seven girls attended the camp this year. The camp was open to ages 5 through 12.

Coaches included head coach Christy Ferguson, assistant coach Robin Riley, Calhoun’s assistant coach Anna Hall, Mississippi State player Olivia Golden and private hitting instructor Randy Slack.

Campers were split into small groups according to age and taught drills and techniques. Coaches worked with the girls on bunting, hitting, grounders, pop flies, stealing and base running.

Each camper received snacks and drinks after practice and a T-shirt at the conclusion of the camp.

Camp director and head coach Christy Ferguson was glad to help the younger girls learn more about softball.

“We just hope they learned at least one thing they can take with them from here,” Ferguson said. “We really appreciate the effort the campers put in as well as the hard work from the high school players. We had a lot of parents compliment our high school girls this year.”
