Two facing drug charges following bust at Lacon

Two people are in custody after law enforcement found an active one-pot meth lab at Lacon Trade Day Flea Market in Falkville on May 29.

Anthony Wayne Mooney, 46, of Vinemont was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance 1st degree, trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful possession of marijuana 1st degree, and unlawful possession of felony drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $755,000 bond.

The suspect’s wife, Tracie Yvette Mooney, 47, of Vinemont, was also arrested and charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance 2nd degree, unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd degree, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her jail bond was set at $200,600.

On May 29, Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies and drug task force agents observed a white man shaking a plastic bottle next to a women’s bathroom at the market. The male suspect observed the marked law enforcement unit and attempted to flee to the women’s bathroom and dispose of an active one-pot methamphetamine laboratory.

Authorities pursued the man, arrested him and recovered the active one-pot methamphetamine laboratory.

Agents obtained and executed a search warrant for the building belonging to Mr. Mooney and located items and equipment associated with manufacturing methamphetamine. While the crime scene was secured, his wife arrived at the market. Officers found possession of a glass-smoking pipe, marijuana and a loaded handgun on the woman.
