Gerns reunion planned at Huskey Park Saturday

Oden Ridge News

We  sure had a bad summer. At first we had too much rain and now it is so dry it smells like Texas or Arizona in the summer. Most everyone that didn’t water their gardens never made enough to pay for our seeds. So here we are praying for rain but Lord wait till all the cotton is picked.
I’m sure all of you are thankful for the wonderful cool nights. I sure hop we don’t go from hot to cold like we did last year.
Everyone enjoyed attending the wedding of Cierra Kinney of Oden Ridge to Chris Allen of Holly Pond. They were married on Smith Lake at the home of their friend and honeymooned in Chattanooga. My granddaughter was the beautiful bride.
We are enjoying watching Anthony Greenaret and his wife’s home going up. He recently retired from the service. He and his dad, Bill, are doing the building with supervision from Shirley and Anthony’s wife.
We lost a life-long friend on Tuesday.  Marjie Cryer went home to be with the Lord. Pray for her husband Ollie and their family.
Also pray for the family of Larry Childers who passed away last week. Keep praying for Grace Henry and Ermond Lindsey. Also Mary McElvey.
Jewels Gerns (my family) is having a reunion starting Oct. 16, with a big pot-luck party at Huskey Park. All relatives are invited. The picnic starts are 10 a.m. and goes to whenever. We have family coming from all over, so meet us there for a great time.
We were sorry to hear Hubert Oden had been in the hospital with an infection last week. He is home and doing better. Our prayers are with him.
Judy Childers Gibson, from Troy, Ohio, visited with her family this week. Her brothers are Ruel, Bobby and Ronald Childers.
My good friend Dorothy Hoover enjoyed a reunion with her family on Friday. Her sons, Andy Adams from Fla. and Kelly Winsett from Virginia were there. They spent several days with the family.
Happy late birthday to Richard Simons on the 3rd. Happy birthday also to Beth Hillyer and her sister Deanna celebrate their birthdays on the 8th and 12th.
Please call me with news and birthdays.
