A large crowd filled Smith-Owens Stadium Tuesday evening, May 21 for Danville’s graduation ceremony.

During the ceremony, principal Gilmer Ellis, historian Haylee Little, valedictorian Quinn Roberts and co-salutatorians Sarah Randolph-Bonones and Jordan Turney made speeches. Awards and additional scholarships were announced, and principal Ellis awarded diplomas.

The class of 2013 elected Little to be historian and recall the highlights of their school career. She recognized the two students the class had lost during their time together and applauded their unity through hard times.

“I have never been more proud to be a part of this family,” Little said. “Losing two of our own made us realize how short life can be.”

Roberts encouraged his classmates to step out of their comfort zone and fulfill their potential.

“Stand out and influence the world in your own way,” Roberts said. “Have a character of selflessness that leaves a lasting impression.”

Danville graduated 79 students who amassed over $982,722 in scholarships altogether. The ceremony celebrated the Morgan County School System idea of “Students Today, Leaders Tomorrow.”
