Reward offered in Decatur murder

District Attorney Scott Anderson, together with the office of Gov. Robert Bentley, announced Thursday that the Governor has offered a reward in the amount of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s) in the murder of Ana Chavez.

She was found murdered in her home located at 1315 15th Ave. SE in Decatur on April 15 by her 7-year-old son when he returned home from School.

The victim’s 18-month-old daughter was found unharmed in the home after being left unattended when her mother was killed.

The investigation into the death of Ms. Chavez’ death is ongoing and anyone with any information is urged to contact Investigator Mike Burleson with Decatur Police Department at 256-341-4633 or Investigator Johnny Coker with the District Attorney’s office at 256-351-4610.
