Northway makes all-star squad

Riley Northway, a junior member of Brewer High School’s girls basketball team, has been selected as a member of the 2013 North Girls All-Star basketball squad.

The Class 5A all-state player will be one of 15 outstanding juniors from across North Alabama to compete against a south team at the 17th annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week competition in Montgomery July 15-20.

Sports Week, which also includes in-state all-star games in soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball and football, will also feature the summer conference with clinic and professional development sessions for coaches, principals, athletic directors, cheerleader coaches and officials.

Another highlight event will be the Sportsmanship Banquet, which honors all schools that have not had an ejection or fine during the 2012-2013 School year, and the Championship Coaches Awards Banquet, which honors the 2012-20-3 Making a Difference Award winners.
