Falkville seeded third in 1A area

Falkville’s Lady Blue Devils earned a third seed in Class 1A area standings with a win over Addison at home on Thursday.

McKenzie Smith led Falkville in hitting with three hits and an RBI. Emoni Smith had two doubles, a single and an RBI, Amanda Muse had a three-RBI double, Shaynah Story had a double and Paige Garner, Lyndsey Moore, Cheyenne Wilson and Callie Garner each singled.

Garner was the winning pitcher, recording four strikeouts.

Bailey Anders sealed the win by contributing to the last two outs. She fielded grounders and tossed the ball to first baseman Moore to end the game.

The Lady Blue Devils will play second-seeded Meek April 30 at 4:30 p.m. in the first round of the area tournament, which will be hosted by Decatur Heritage. Addison and St. Bernard will also be competing for two spots in sectional competition.
