Little did Julian Burton realize when he graduated from Danville High School in 2002 that eight years later he would be a fiction writer and co-founder of a publishing firm.
Burton, a Decatur resident, Jeff Stover of Colorado and Moses Garcia of Pennsylvania pooled their writing talents and business interests to form Blue Throne Publishing Co. earlier this year. Their first published work was Blue Earth, a science fiction novel by Stover. It is available at Barnes & Noble books stores nationwide as well as Amazon.com and Books-A-Million.com.
Garcia is currently crafting a screenplay based on the novel and Burton is writing his own science fiction thriller.
After graduating from Danville High, Burton attended classes at Calhoun Community College where his talent as a writer emerged.
“Bill Provin, one of my English professors, told me I had a talent for writing and encouraged me to pursue it as a career,” Burton said.  “Later, I met Stover and we became friends while working for the North Alabama Sheriff’s Boys Ranch. Garcia was a friend of Stover before we met.
“Stover was having a difficult time trying to get his book published when we met and decided to pool our talents and resources and start our own publishing firm,” he said.  “In addition to book publishing, we are looking at producing and promoting other forms of entertainment such as video games.”
Burton is also an accomplished actor. He played major roles in Back Stage Theatre productions of “To Kill A Mockingbird” and Shakespeare’s  “Othello.”
