Descendants of Hartselle family to reunite

Descendants of Hartselle founder George Hartselle will gather at the Fine Arts Center in Hartselle for their fourth reunion since 2000 on Friday and Saturday,  Sept. 16-17.
A banquet-style dinner is planned at the Fine Arts Center on Friday at 6 p. m. as the kickoff event for the reunion. A breakfast meeting will follow on Saturday at 8 a.m.
Family members will be invited to take in the festivities of the Depot Days celebration downtown and attend the unveiling of a historical marker at the old railroad depot at 12:15 p.m. Afterwards, they will reconvene at the Fine Arts Center for a time of sharing stories about the town’s early history and family happenings. A visit to local cemeteries where family members are buried will follow.
“We expect to have a large crowd, including several family members from out-of-state,” said Betty White English, one of the event’s organizers. “But we’re still looking for those who haven’t come before. Anyone with a Hartselle family connection is welcome.”
Reservations are needed for the dinner and breakfast. To make reservations, call Betty English at 256-773-9390 or Carolyn Johnson at 773-6068.
