Sumiton Christian beats Falkville

SUMITON – Two second-half touchdowns weren’t enough to help Falkville pull out a win on the road Friday night.
Sumiton Christian scored 21 points in the final two quarters to end an 11-game losing streak with a 24-17 victory over the Blue Devils Friday night.
Tyler Anders ran for one touchdown and threw for another in the Class 2A, Region 7 game.
Anders completed 14-of-23 pass attempts for 176 yards in the loss. Stephen Nall had six receptions for 103 yards.
Stephen Nall hit a 27-yard field goal late in the first half for a 3-3 tie.
The Blue Devils surrendered 21 unanswered points to seal the win.
Ronald Taylor returned the second-half kick 81 yards for the game’s first touchdown.
Anders scored on a quarterback sneak to get the Blue Devils back to within one point.
Sumiton Christian added a 19-yard touchdown run by Cody Taylor to make it 17-9.
The Eagles recovered a Falkville fumble to set up their final touchdown of the game. Taylor capped the Sumiton Christian scoring with a 12-yard run.
Anders threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Chad Kirkpatrick to keep the Blue Devils in the game. Falkville added a two-point conversion to trim the gap to 24-17.
Falkville’s on-side kick was recovered by the Eagles.
After getting the ball back in the final minute, Falkville’s final drive ended on an interception.
