Priceville High School standout Danielle Richard hit 23 homers this year for the Lady Bulldogs as a junior. She recently commited to play softball for the University of Alabama in 2012.

PRICEVILLE – Danielle Richard’s incredible junior season on the diamond was hard to overlook.
The diminutive shortstop put up some monstrous offensive numbers as Priceville came within a win of reaching the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s state tournament.
Richard had 23 homers and 62 RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs while hitting .545. She reached base in 48 of the 53 games she played this season.
The University of Alabama commitment is the Hartselle Enquirer’s 2010 Hitter of the Year, highlighting five Priceville players to be named to the all-area team.
Richard, the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A Player of the Year finished the season with 85 hits and had an on-base percentage of .601.
Hartselle’s Meaghan Gray and Breanna Riley shared the pitcher-of-the-year honors for the second straight season.
The pair combined to form one of the state’s top pitching staffs and helped the Lady Tigers reach the state tournament.
Gray, who will pitch at Northwest-Shoals this spring, had a 2.32 ERA and finished with a 20-8 record for the Lady Tigers.
Riley was 22-10 and finished with an ERA of 2.11.
Other Hartselle players earning all-area honors were infielders Olivia Golden and Chelsea Bennich, and outfielders Katie Gentle and Ashley Bonner.
Priceville’s’Ashlee Beggs, Meaghan Bond, Shayna Bond and Chasity Martin joined Richard on the all-tournament team.
Falkville’s Jessie Thompson and Samantha Davis led the Lady Blue Devils to a winning record this season.
Danville’s Sarah Terry and Regan LaRoche completed the all-area team.
