Class planned for those interested in learning about Habitat home

Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County will conduct an application class Aug. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Turner Surles Community Resource Center at 702 Sycamore St. in Decatur.
This session is for persons interested in applying for the Habitat program.
Habitat builds homes for low-income families, and then sells them to the families for the cost of construction.
There is no interest on any loan, and Habitat makes no profit from the sales. House costs generally range from $50,000 to $65,000. Sponsors provide cash and volunteers laborers to lower building costs.
There are three basic requirements in order to qualify. Apppicants:  must:
• Have a housing need (due to poor conditions, overcrowding, unsafe neighborhood, etc.).
• Have a source of stable income and meet income requirements.
• Be willing to volunteer on a construction site and at the Habitat ReStore, as well as participate in homeowner education classes.
Anyone interested in applying should call the Habitat office at 256-340-9609 to pre-qualify for the meeting.
