School board to interview five candidates for CSFO

Five finalists have been selected to fill the chief school financial officer for Hartselle City Schools.

Ken Roberts, chief operating officer for Alabama Association of Schools Boards, presented the Hartselle Board of Education his top five recommendations for the system’s CSFO at a work session Monday night.

The candidates include:

John Higginbotham of Hartselle, currently employed with Huntsville Hospital as a decision support specialist/analyst

Tiffany Mason of Falkville currently employed with the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts.

Ina Smith of Huntsville, staff accountant at Calhoun Community College.

Daniel Theis of Daphne, currently the manager of K-12 accounting implementation division with CSI-McAleer Software Solutions

Larry Vance of Florence, currently the CSFO for Lauderdale County Schools.

The board contracted with AASB to help in the search for the position after Sarita Tapscott resigned to take the same position in the newly formed Alabaster School System.

Roberts said he would email information to the board Tuesday with sample interview questions the board may wish to use, along with salary information in comparison to similar systems.

The board will spend time looking through the information presented and will then publicly interview the candidates.
