Crestline fifth grader David Orr collected $175 and two certificates of achievement from the Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution on Friday as first place chapter winner and second place state winner in the 2012-2013 “Declaration of Independence Poster Contest.

Shown with him, are his parents, John David and Mary Orr, Bob Doherty, chapter president, and Bob Anderson (dressed as Revolutionary War hero Gen. Daniel Morgan), chapter vice president.

The presentation was made in the school cafeteria where the fifth grade class assembled to share finger foods and listen to Anderson talks about the Revolutionary War and take and answer their questions.
